Want one bearded guy? How about seven? This button/badge/pin set includes seven of the most popular (and sold out!) bearded guys. You will receive one of each of the following: Tom, Templeton, Byron (Charcoal), Black Tom, Franklin (Blue), Serge (Gray), and Boris.
Each button is 1.5".

They will come in a lovely blue velvet pouch. You can consider them gift wrapped or just have a nice place to store them : )

YAY for buttons!! AKA affordable, wearable art :)

I hope to see you at 2 p.m. CST right here.

I may even be back later today with more goodies for the shop update tomorrow at 2 p.m. CST. If you want to check out yesterday's post again, I replaced the other photos of bearded guys with some in better lighting.

There has been no shortage of deliveries from UPS, FedEx, DHL, and USPS around here. Supplies for work and gifts for family and friends and maybe one or two for me : )

We did some reorganizing (again) of our back room, front closet, and all the storage areas in the apartment. Things aren't messy, but lots of things don't have a permanent home and I'm trying to remedy that. We want to put up the tree and menorah (Hanukkah is so soon!) and have some gifts wrapped, and I can't do that unless everything else is nice and tidy.

Happy Monday!

Thankful

This year I am especially thankful for the small things.

Img_5363_2

I am thankful for the piles of autumn leaves scattered everywhere, crunching under my feet when I walk around the city.

Img_5352

I am thankful when the neighborhood is still asleep in the early morning and it feels like stolen time that belongs just to me and a few other early risers.

Img_5350

I am thankful to have a very special someone to share an early morning Thanksgiving walk with.

Photobooth_grabface_2

Or have a silly late night with. And that he enjoys the small things even more than I do : )

Img_5328

I am thankful for my purring little furnace that keeps me warm when I check my morning e-mail, nags me all day for treats and toys, sits with me when I work in the late afternoon, and rules the bed at night.

Img_5364

I am thankful for a very tasty dinner and that for the last month both of my sisters, mom, and I have been in the same city. It's been about half of my life that someone was in a different place from the rest of us and even with our minor annoyances to tearful emotional outbursts they are mine and I am theirs and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Lastly, I am thankful that I have so much to be thankful for. Am I an eternal optimist? Far from it, in fact. But I know… I know.

I hope everyone had a very happy Thanksgiving. Or at the very least a pretty great Thursday.

Now the big question? Torture myself and go to Macy's for the coat I want and get it for $50 or $60 when it's usually $200, or just let that dream fade away? 'Cause… wow, tomorrow scares me :)

OH NO! FYI… this is the message that is on their web site right now. Now I'm really afraid.

We'll be right with you.
It's a little crowded in here right now, and to make sure everyone enjoys shopping with us, we're asking new visitors to wait here a few moments while other shoppers finish up. We'll refresh your browser and welcome you in momentarily. Thanks for your patience!

UPDATE: I got the damn coat at 6 am!! And EVEN better I got these Privo Oso shoes for  $23!!!!

I wore my other Privo shoes ALL SUMMER. They truly are soooo comfortable. And you don't have to be at  Macy's at 2 am or have a coupon. The red is a discontinued color so they are just that price. The goldish/copper ones are AMAZING but not on sale :( and these shoes aren't on their website.

Crawford

Img_5322

Crawford
5.25" × 7.625"
edition of 10

I am more than pleased to announce that Crawford will be available at Rare Device in San Francisco! If you're in the area you can pick one up very soon or if you want to order one, e-mail info@raredevice.net or call (415) 863-3969.

I'm delighted that they carry some of my other prints as well. We all know Lisa, and I can only imagine the amazing shop that she and Rena run. And Lisa is the guest blogger at Design Sponge this week. I am almost frightened to look at the site. (Oh, but I'm looking anyway.) Between Grace and Lisa I will want everything mentioned.

Another reason I am delighted today, besides that I can feel Thanksgiving in the air (thank you overcast, chilly day with leaves rustling about), is that one of my best friends in the world, who I have known since I was 4 and she was 6, is pregnant and today found out that she is having a healthy, bouncing baby _______. I know what the sex is, but my sisters and mom and some of our other friends don't know quite yet, so I am sworn to secrecy until they know later today. Now that is a benefit of working from home.

I must go look on Etsy now for baby stuff. I picked up some either/or baby stuff before, but NOW I KNOW!! hehe.

Happy Thanksgiving Eve!

UPDATE: I can now announce It's a boy!!!!

Extra! Extra! Read All About It!!! (said in my best newsie's voice)

Ashleyg_painting

A big thanks to The Storque over at Etsy for interviewing me. You can read it right here! It's a little more in depth on how I run my business and I got to select some of my favorite items from other shops (so you should check those out too!)

Picture Perfect Weekend

This was a great weekend. I took a little mental health break (Ssshhh… it will be our little secret ;) )

Here is a little recap in reverse…

This morning I woke up bright and early to be at Target by 8 a.m. when they opened. Just me and two other ladies. And believe me, our Target is always insane. Why do this (besides to avoid the crowds)? For the the new Erin Fetherston collection, of course!

Img_5295

I LOVE this jacket. I could not get a great photo but I assure you it is flattering, very well made, and true to size (even on the big side). My only possible complaint is the armpits feel a tiny bit snug. But this is coming from a girl who wears sweatshirts most of the time.

Img_5314

My other two purchases (see, that shirt's not all black).

After my early shopping trip I was still groggy and in need of a mocha and reading material.

Img_0051

Saturday we hit some estate sales. The three homes were beautiful.

Img_0027

See? And did I mention enormous? I walked away with nothing but Drew found this at the house above:

Img_0037

a Voigtlander Bessa II from 1950 and it seems to work…

Then there was more of this…

Img_0047

What to do with the remaining bit of the weekend? I hope you had a great one too!!

p.s. I'm thinking a shop update is in the works for Monday or Tuesday (Nov. 26 or 27)!!!

You Never Know What's Right Around the Corner

And sometimes it's in your very own neighborhood…

Img_0023

We live in a very urban area and just out of walking distance (like a minute and a half drive since there are lights and traffic) is the recycling center. And at the recycling center is this old little bridge and that is the view from it, in such juxtaposition to all its surroundings. Tons of ducks were swimming about. And a black cat overlooked the whole scene.

And just for fun, here is the cute (or at least I think so) recycling center.

Img_0024

I love that it looks like a bunch of third graders got together and painted it for a class project.

Also, I appreciate things like a recycling center that bring so much diversity to one place. In the few minutes we were there an Orthodox Jewish mother and daughter unloaded their recycling. So did an elderly Asian woman and an older Black gentleman came on his bike to check out the computers. We were both eying some old Mac G4 towers but concluded they were probably not working. Although I am positive someone took those by now. The recycler kindly left them outside of the bin making it easier for those interested.

After that we hit up a Friday night estate sale. Who knew? It was from 6–8 p.m. I came away with a great mid-century lamp (photos to come) and some fantastic vintage gift-toppers and ornaments: tiny pine cones, birds, bird nests, and mushrooms. Score.

Tomorrow, more of the same.

And I am BUSY at work getting more bearded guys ready for another shop update and for a few other places. I will let you know when that will take place as soon as I possibly can. I am still getting lots of e-mail (thank you so much!) from some very sad folks so I decided to bump up the next update. I can't leave anyone hanging :)

And for those of you wondering about custom bearded guys I would love to say "bring it on" but unfortunately time will not allow for that. But I do hope with enough bearded guys created one will look just like your special someone :)

Have a wonderful weekend!!!

Tuesday Tuesday

Img_5225

How appropriate? Two of my bearded guys were used as the artwork to accompany "A Brief History of Beards," a fun, funny, (and educational) article by Jed Lipinski for the Brooklyn Rail.

I was sent a copy of the November edition and I want to get it every month. Sigh, I wish we had newspapers like that here.

We're still in overtime mode over here but in a very pleasant way. I cannot believe that it is almost Thanksgiving. Yesterday I was having a conversation with the receptionist at the doctor's office and we were both convinced that "they" had moved Thanksgiving up a week. (The same "they" who changed daylight saving, of course, in case you're wondering).

I got home and told Drew all about it and he was like "Umm… Thanksgiving is usually always the 3rd Thursday of November." I like thinking that everyone else in the office just thought we were nuts but were too polite to say "no, it hasn't been moved." Ahh… the decency of strangers :)

Happy Tuesday!!

YAY!!

I am happy to report that we have a few stragglers among my bearded men. For anyone looking for one in this batch, (and again: more coming in the nearish future) I have a few for you. Currently, this is what is available, and of course it is first come, first serve. I am sorry to say, once they are gone from my shop, they truly are sold and off to their new homes.

There is only one Bobby.

Il_fullxfull13637314

There is only one Serge (Gray).

Il_fullxfull13925038

and there are three Theodores!

Il_fullxfull13925024

I am doing this post very late (or very early) my time, so it gives other time zones a chance too :)

Thanks again for all the beardy love!!!
