Off to Velocity
Our landlord semi-surprised our building with new windows. Which I am thrilled with for saving on electricity, but I was initially sort of sad that they weren't going to be white. Once they were installed I got over it pretty quickly. I really like the contrast they add and, I won't have to suffer in the sweltering heat of the summer and the bitter cold of the winter while watching TV/working in the sunroom.
They just finished today and I can open ALL of my windows!! Before, several were painted shut with years and layers of paint. And others had no screens, just the storm windows. Oh, I'm sooooo excited to have each and every one of our 18 (that's a lot of windows for an apartment) open!
And these paintings along with all the ones from the last post are headed to Velocity.
It Can Be a Burden - 10" × 10" × 3/4" - Acrylic, ink, pencil, and vintage book pages on canvas
Tweet - 8" × 8" × 3/4" - Acrylic, ink, pencil, and vintage book pages on canvas
A Lot Going On - 8" × 8" × 3/4" - Acrylic, ink, pencil, and vintage book pages on canvas
A Bit Humbled - 8" × 8" × 3/4" - Acrylic, ink, pencil, and vintage book pages on canvas
Today we've been coloring two more prints that I am excited about. And doing some test printing. And laundry (blah).
But you know, sometimes, even in the middle of a work day, you have to stop and appreciate the small, very cute things.
My little Isadora is going to be seven in May. And she still looks and acts sooo much like a kitten. She's just my favorite thing. I would LOVE to have another cat or a smallish dog but my little Iz is not herself when other animals are around. She gets a little freaked out and stops being cuddly. And I'm not just talking about initially—I mean she has lived with other animals for over three years and is just a weird version of herself. I would miss that too much. Unless I really fell in love with another animal. Which sometimes just happens.

see, I was reading blogs guilt free when I got to yours about the laundry....and it reminded me that I have clothes to fold....booo!!!
luckily I spend most of my day with paint covered hands so folding clothes is "impossible"

We have been promised similar windows, as of right now we have 1 + it's wonderful. Most of our windows are painted shut too.
As for the second pet, the same thing happened to us, but we keep telling the cat that he was once a street urchin + we gave him a good home, just like we have done for Monk, so he has to be nice + remember that he was once homeless too. I don't think he understands, maybe I should try monosyllabic words.

That's such a cute cat! I had a one who looked the same, maybe a little darker.

I like the contrast of the new windows too - and being able to open them easily is a huge bonus! I love your big electric blue couch, if I lived there I would probably spend all of my time in that room too.
Congratulations on your new shipment of work to Velocity - all of those new paintings are so wonderful. I'm still trying to figure out what animal I most resemble :)

Such a sweet-faced kitty!
Really lucky about the new windows. It makes a huge difference! This summer I need to have to replace all of my windows. Currently, they're wafer-thin single pane windows and lots of them! So cold during the Winter. While I'm at it I really want to have a set of french doors installed leading out to my patio.

Hello! I'm so loving your work. I've been admiring it for quite awhile and just wanted to de-lurk (as they say). And the recent shift is really fascinating! I love watching the progression...

These burdened faces are so perfect. I'm feeling a bit connected to them today - the realization of which is making me smile instead of furrowing my brows. Thanks!

I've lived in many apartments over the years with painted shut windows. What a great landlord to update so many of them!

You have a marvelous blog here. I'm delighted to find you via the Typepad featured blog links. We were a featured blog in May... maybe you'd stop by and share your wonderful cat video in our little Cute Cat contest over at Scratchings and Sniffings? You have the makings of a winner, I think!

That's such a lovely video! Is she a silver British Shorthair? She reminds me very much of my tortie Nang (short for Penang). She and her sister Karahi are also about to turn seven in a couple of days. Fab couch! Where did you get it?
